Non-Profit organization ‘Veterans Stand’ worked with military contractors according to one former organizer after learning about the TigerSwan revelations.
On July 9th 2017 – Wes Clark Jr, former organizer with the non-profit group Veterans Stand, published a revealing statement outing the military contractors that were involved with the non-profit organization (currently headed by Michael Woods Jr). He makes it clear that if you donated, joined an event associated with or registered an account affiliated with Veterans Stand then your information has been collected by the military contractors. Wes Clark Jr, a man of the military and also a Christian activist, writer & son of a retired US Army general/former NATO commander, wrote the following statement on his Facebook page to address the issue:
“I did not realize at the time but some of our planning staff were paid military contractors working for the other side. They have the names, emails, addresses, phone numbers and personal information for each and every one of us that went out there or contributed money to the cause of protecting both our environment and our Constitution..”
“I did not realize at the time but some of our planning staff were paid military contractors working for the other side. They have the names, emails, addresses, phone numbers and personal information for each and every one of us that went out there or contributed money to the cause of protecting both our environment and our Constitution. Please be cognizant of the fact that all of us are on a list and that if there is civil disorder in this country, we will be the first people rounded up.” He wrote the post to his followers, urging people to inform everyone who donated to the organization that their personal data was collected by military contractors after he recently learned about about TigerSwan’s involvement (TigerSwan is an unlicensed security operation that worked with police to publish propaganda, cause chaos and traumatize activists with attack dogs and explosive grenades). In late 2016 Wes Clark Jr, announced he would no longer be involved with the Veterans Stand organization.
It was a spontaneous event that drew thousands of veterans to Standing Rock, North Dakota to protect native communities from the violence and destruction of the police, the oil corporation and their military. Wes Clark Jr had a leadership role at the time and led prayer efforts and asked local indigenous elders for forgiveness for the US Army’s past crimes against indigenous communities. The GoFundMe account that went viral ended up accumulating over a million dollars even though proper shelters were never built and many veterans and their families were forced to return home after weather conditions made the situation worse.
The veteran call ended with a blizzard, lack of shelter, scattered communication and president Obama announcing to the world that there’s nothing more to protest in North Dakota by pretending the pipeline wouldn’t be constructed. Some veterans groups, including Veterans For Peace and VeteransRespond, stayed behind to support the camps and even assisted with the cleanup in the end as well.
If you donated to Veterans Stand it would be best to not panic but remain mindful and inform anyone else who supported the organization that the military contractors have their details on file. These kinds of data mining tactics will always be used to intimidate activists in an effort to squash real grassroots movements. They think they can just bury us but what they don’t understand is that we’re seeds.
