We could all use a little cheering up on a day where we have to say goodbye and that’s exactly what this boss did. A director at the Integrated Resources Institute recently surprised one of his employees with a song on his ukulele.

She wasn’t expecting this on her last day at work and his kind gesture brought her to tears.

Jean is preparing to transition to another job after nearly a decade of working for IRI. Her boss (Joseph) began playing an uplifting version of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ (a cover by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole) on his ukulele and sang to her to show his gratitude for all the hard work she’s done.

IRI is a company that facilitates the employment of significantly disabled individuals in the USA and Australia and currently helps over 20,000 disabled individuals thrive in the work place. You can learn more by visiting their website at IRIOC.org

“It made me feel appreciated for the work I’ve done.”

Jean felt truly touched by her boss’s song and says “It made me feel appreciated for the work I’ve done. I feel sad that I’m leaving, but also know that it’s time for me to move on.” One simple act can truly brighten someone’s day and leave a mark on them for the rest of their life. We wish Jean and her director all the best.
